Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of LifePoint Church derived from the Scriptures and recognized within orthodox, historical Christianity.
God Exists
There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise. God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
God Reveals Himself
God has revealed himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God, the holy scriptures, and through all of creation itself.
Humans were Created & are Loved by God
Humans, both male & female, were created in God's image, granted power & authority. The first humans, Adam & Eve, were created without sin & appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creation.
Sin Entered the World and Impacted Humans
When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God because of the deceptive effects of sin. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation ever since that time.
God Always Loves, and Provides Salvation from Sin's Consequences
Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin & willingly died on the cross to forgive all sin once & for all. God physically raised him from the dead & now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to everyone that can be enjoyed in this life & the life beyond.
Holy Spirit Presence and Power inside of People
Following the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit was poured out to empower believers to continue the mission of Jesus through deliverance, signs and wonders, healing and miracles. The Holy Spirit produces the fruit of grace in our lives and provides spiritual gifts for the building up of the body of Christ.
The Kingdom Of God is Always Expanding
The kingdom of God in the broadest sense is God’s supreme sovereignty. God’s reign is now manifest in the church and in the life of each believer. His kingdom will be fully manifest over the whole world after the return of Jesus Christ when he delivers all things to the Father.
The Church Family
The church is the greatly loved bride of Christ. We are living stones, a spiritual family, and the visible body of Christ. The people who compose the church are believers in Jesus who are sent into the world to reveal God's grace, His glory, and to proclaim through demonstration the gospel of Jesus Christ as a lifestyle.
The Return Of Christ
Jesus Christ, as he promised, will come again to judge & reign over all nations in the kingdom of God. His second coming will be visible, & in power & glory & will bring the final end to evil. This event inaugurates the resurrection of the dead & the reward of the saints.
